The Stapleford and Great Shelford Neighbourhood Plan as made now forms part of the development plan for South Cambridgeshire. All planning decisions in the area will need to comply with the development plan (that now includes the Neighbourhood Plan), unless material considerations indicate otherwise.

Designated Neighbourhood Area
On 8 November 2016 the Stapleford and Great Shelford Neighbourhood Area was designated following the end of the consultation with no objections received.
Pre-submission consultation (Regulation 14)
Stapleford and Great Shelford carried out a consultation on their pre-submission Neighbourhood Plan for their parishes. The consultation was from 11 March 2024 to 30 April 2024.
Submission public consultation (Regulation 16)
Stapleford and Great Shelford Parish Councils submitted their Neighbourhood Plan and supporting documents to us on 22 November 2024.
We confirmed that the Neighbourhood Plan complies with all the relevant statutory requirements.
A public consultation on the submission version of the Neighbourhood Plan was carried out between 18 December 2024 and 12 February 2025. The comments received during the consultation have been published and can be viewed using our online consultation system.
Examination
Stapleford and Great Shelford Neighbourhood Plan was submitted for examination on 18 February 2025. The independent examiner appointed to carry out the examination is Andrew Ashcroft.
Referendum
The referendum on the Stapleford and Great Shelford Neighbourhood Plan took place on 4 September 2025.
